Pros:

  • Sturdy mount, can carry a 10" OTA (Newt) well enough for visual purposes.
  • With a little care on alignment puts objects well in the field of view of a 15mm eyepiece (80x) every time.
  • Very good value for money

Cons:

  • Noisy on full speed slew. Coffee grinder is a good description.
  • 10" OTA is the maximum for visual use, for AP I would assume a much smaller scope would be the limit.
  • The handset that came with the unit was faulty and the unit often got No Response Error 16/17 error messages. An upgraded handset cured this.
  • Build quality in my unit was not too good, an internal board in RA motor was contacting the metal casing and the Dec motor housing is too low making it rub against one of the clutch knobs.
