HantsAstro - Avatar

We are an innovative astronomy group which is quite unlike any other.

We offer free membership and a free monthly PDF eZine 'Look Up', with general observing sessions for FREE starting in Sept '08 for beginners and those wishing just to observe.

We have 5 'scopes from 3" to 10" and have some special astrophotography sessions planned at several of the best dark sky sites in Hampshire, now tested and ready.

We do not have a clubhouse (that's why we are online!) and are funded by our online store, a bit of advertising and some of our special observing sessions... (not all the sites can be free, but some are!!!)

It's a different kind of group. Practical Astronomy with access to safe sites, a free eZine every month with unbiased reviews and a new take on astronomy.

So, it's pay-as-you-go-astronomy with web site and magazine, and with no strings attached.

We have 41 members in just three months and are growing all the time.

We really are 'Out There'. To find out the latest news please visit our site.

Thank you for reading and I hope you like it enough to join in.

Dark Skies.

Wednesday 6th of August 2008 06:25:52 AM

Read All About It!!!

Our eZine PDF 'Look Up!' is now available for free public download.

Now even bigger with 20 Pages, group news and with further details of our 2 new observing sites in Hampshire,
Butser Ancient Farm and at INTECH Science Centre & Planetarium.

There is an exclusive interview with the Planetarium's manager, Dr Jenny Shipway.
It's amazing what one can do with 6 projectors, a 17 metre dome
and 32 Terabytes of data.

Also SGL's very own Ant has a lovely pic of the M27 Dumbbell Nebula.

There is also a review on the William Optics Megrez 90 Apo.

This is our 4th edition from the HantsAstro stable;
http://www.hantsastro.org/ezinefront.html

Previous editions are also available for free download:
http://www.hantsastro.org/ezinearchive08.html

I hope you like it even more than the last one.

Oh, and please subscribe (did I mention it was free...?).

Sign up as a full member  (..for free) and come to our (Free) Perseid Meteor Watch on the 11th Aug,
at Butser Ancient Farm. Should be fun, and maybe a bit louder than usual...!?

I hope you enjoy the latest read.

David.
